Doodle Unites Calendars—Speeds Online Scheduling for Small Businesses to Large Enterprises

(PRWEB) November 18, 2009 -- The principle of online scheduling is simple—it is the quickest available way to find the right time for a group of people to meet. Scheduling doesn’t get any easier than with the Doodle tool; an online display of optional meeting times allows all participants to indicate their preferred times and enables the organizer to choose the final slot. Done. There is no toggling between participants’ calendars and no inefficient email chains—obtaining the availability of external parties is made effortless.

“Using Doodle I was able to cut what would have otherwise been a laborious and time-consuming weekly scheduling process down from hours to minutes,” said Erin Seay, curriculum manager, UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. Seay used the tool for coordinating multiple meetings for 15 committees, each made up of approximately 18 faculty members, as part of a major initiative towards a curriculum revision. What made the task even more challenging was the fact that not everyone shared the same calendar system. “I couldn’t have done it any other way,” she added. By engaging participants, Doodle makes scheduling transparent and very flexible, regardless of whether they use online or offline calendars, paper planners or no system at all (see calendar integration overview http://doodle.com/about/calendarIntegrationOverview.html). However, when connected to the personal calendar, Doodle selects available time slots from participants’ personal calendars, allows them to specify their preferences and re-syncs to place the final meeting time on participants’ calendars. Using the tool, meeting planners can administer invitations, reminders and confirmations—no more typing email addresses.

Professionals can begin scheduling a meeting directly from the Doodle Web site anytime, free of charge, without registering or download. However, companies that would like to customize the scheduling tool with their own brand can subscribe to Branded Doodle for a nominal annual fee. The service is hosted, so updates are provided to users automatically, and it offers additional professional features and more security options with access control and encryption.

“Our business customers have been using Doodle to schedule project meetings between disparate calendars of geographically dispersed team members," said Amit Kulkarni, CEO of Manymoon. “Manymoon projects get completed faster with Doodle since people can quickly find a suitable time to speak instead of going back and forth in email. As a fast growing internet business, we need all the advantages we can get to be highly productive and to keep our burn rate low—Doodle provides the smartest way for us to schedule meetings and events.”
